How we created a website ordering tutorial

From the brief and script to the real form screens, the animations and the finished video. Follow the whole project step by step.

Step 1

The brief.

To start, just describe what the video should explain, who it’s for and how long it should be. You don’t need graphics or a script.

Brief: explainer video “How to order a website on webweb.cz”

Goal and scope

A short explainer video for visitors to webweb.cz. It should show that ordering a new company website is simple and takes just a few minutes. The viewer goes through the whole order step by step and ends with a clear call to order a website.

  • Length: about 75 seconds.
  • Presenter: avatar Nozumu, who guides the viewer through the order.
  • Visuals: the real order form screens, animated to show the form being filled in (cursor, typing, button clicks).
  • Format: landscape 16:9, with subtitles.
  • Use: the webweb.cz homepage and social media.

Intro

The avatar welcomes the viewer and asks whether they want a new website for their business. On webweb.cz they can order one in a few minutes. The avatar promises to show how, step by step.

1. Registration

The order starts with registration. Customers can sign up with their email address or continue with Google or Apple.

2. Email verification

A six-digit code arrives by email. The customer enters it and confirms.

3. Plan

The customer chooses a plan: Lite, Pro or Max. It must be clear that the plan only tells the robots what kind of website to build. At this point the customer pays nothing and commits to nothing.

4. Line of business

The customer chooses their line of business, either from a list or in their own words. The video shows both options. The robots then tailor the website content to that business.

5. Design

In the Design step the customer picks a colour scheme or their own colour.

6. Your details

The customer adds their details: name, logo, what they do, their premises, photos and company information. The more they fill in, the more accurate the first draft. The video should reassure them that everything can be changed later in the editor.

7. Summary and submission

Finally the customer checks everything and submits the order.

Closing and call to action

The main benefit comes last: the website is created free as a preview and the customer only pays if they like it. The video ends by inviting them to try it and click “I want a website” on webweb.cz.

Requirements

  • The form screens must match the real order process on webweb.cz; nothing may be made up.
  • Every animation must match the length of its part of the voice-over.
  • The avatar is small in the corner so it doesn’t cover the form. It is shown full size only in the intro and the closing.

Supporting materials

The customer provides screenshots of each step of the order. The supplier creates the animations.

Step 2

The script.

We split the brief into scenes. Each scene has its own text for the avatar and its own visual. We record the voice-over first, then time the animations to match. The video itself is in Czech; the script is shown here in English translation.

Step 4

The animations.

We animate the screenshots to the exact length of each scene: the cursor clicks into a field, the text is typed and the button is pressed.

In this scene the avatar fills the screen, with no animation.
